Dental Procedures

On your first visit, you can expect a thorough evaluation of your oral health. This may include full-mouth x-rays, oral cancer screening, periodontal (gum tissue) screening, tooth-by-tooth examination, preparation of diagnostic models and a complete review of your medical history.

Dr. Simerlein will then formulate a complete treatment plan and discuss how we can work together to achieve your optimal dental health.

With every visit, you can expect warm, personal, yet efficient service. Our caring and professional staff will ensure that your visit with us is pleasant.

Procedures include the following:

Teeth Whitening (also called bleaching)

We can lighten teeth that have been stained or discolored by food and age, or darkened as a result of injury. There are four ways to professionally bleach teeth:

  • Zoom WhiteSpeed - the best one-visit solution for accelerated teeth whitening
  • Zoom QuickPro - coupled with your cleaning appointment, this method will improve your smile
  • Custom Take Home Trays - maximum benefit when used properly over a 10-14 day period
  • Disposable Take Home Trays - for those looking for less fuss over the 10+ day process

Consult with the doctor to choose the best method for your whitening objectives.

Children’s Dental Care

The care and cleaning of your baby's first teeth is extremely important. Baby's first teeth serve many functions in your child's growth and development in addition to proper chewing and digestion. Baby teeth are also essential for correct speech development and play a vital role in holding space for future permanent teeth. And of course, there will be all those cute pictures of your happy, smiling baby showing off those "pearly whites."

We can replace amalgam (silver metal) fillings with tooth-colored fillings for a brighter smile. We precisely match tooth-colored composite fillings with the natural color of your teeth, providing you with white fillings that are virtually invisible. We can do this in conjunction with the replacement of old, leaky fillings, or you can opt to have this done at anytime to improve your appearance.

Crowns, Inlays, and Onlays

Dental crowns are used to support teeth that are damaged. Inlays and Onlays can be an excellent alternative to fillings or crowns when the tooth conditions allow this process. They require less tooth removal, as compared to crowns.

When you’re missing some or all of your teeth, a removable denture could be the recommended way to replace them. This benefits both your health and your appearance by improving the way you speak, eat, and smile. And, especially in the case of a complete denture, helps support your facial muscles, maintaining a more youthful appearance.

A lost tooth (or teeth) can be replaced with dental implants. Dental implants are artificial teeth that are attached directly into your jaw. They're much more secure and natural looking than dentures or bridgework. Longtime denture wearers also benefit from implants by having their loose-fitting dentures secured to a specially designed implant attachment.

For those that are not candidates for implant tooth replacement, dental bridges can be used to fill a gap created by a missing tooth (or teeth). A dental bridge prevents movement of remaining teeth, improves bite, and reduces the risk of bone loss and tooth decay.

Cosmetic Bonding

This procedure involves applying a tooth-colored plastic putty called composite resin to the surface of your chipped, broken or discolored teeth. The composite resin can also fill in gaps between your teeth and protect roots that are exposed due to gum recession. The entire procedure is virtually painless and is usually completed in one visit. However, complex cases may require several appointments.

Porcelain Veneers

These are thin, custom-made, tooth-colored shells that cover the front of your teeth. Once applied, they correct or camouflage misaligned, poorly shaped, damaged, or discolored teeth. The process of applying veneers usually involves two visits.

Hygiene Program

Prevention is the key to keeping your teeth healthy and your smile beautiful for a lifetime. We can customize a program for you that includes a tooth brushing and flossing regimen, fluoride toothpaste, diet counseling, regular check-ups, and more.

Night Guards

Anyone who has participated in sports knows that wearing a mouth guard can prevent serious injury and save a lot of pain. But did you know that wearing a similar guard at night has benefits as well? Custom-fit night guards protect tooth enamel from the pressure of bruxism (clenching) and grinding by providing a protective cushion between the upper and lower teeth. Regular use can help alleviate jaw joint disorders, headaches, neck pain, jaw pain, ear pain, tense muscles, and excessive wear on the teeth.

Your personal health and protection is our primary concern – we adhere strictly to OSHA guidelines for sterilization and hazardous materials. We welcome your questions regarding our infection control procedures.
